America Center is a commercial park consisting of two 6 story class A office buildings with the future addition of two more buildings. Located in Silicon Valley, San Jose, the project is situated on a reclaimed brownfield site. The buildings are designated an impressive LEED Gold level in sustainable design and features. The main design element is the use of a curtain wall glass system on the entry facade to create a sleek and technological look and feel to the buildings, breaking the typical big box look of other commercial parks. Utilizing only a minimal part of the site for the project, the rest of the site has been rehabilitated to be a outdoor santuary for both humans and the natural habitat with bike paths and walking trails, as well as aquatic activities. This site also includes a 30 acre natural preserve, complementing the nearby San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge,a far cry from the former landfill that occupied the site. This project has the designation of being San Jose's first LEED Gold certified office development.
